        Big Walk and Wheel

        Author: Lorna Ockwell

We took part in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel from 21st March – 1st April. This campaign encouraged children to take active journeys to school on as many days as possible during the event.

On each day of the challenge, schools from around the country competed to see who could record the greatest numbers of pupils, parents, carers and staff cycling, walking and scooting to school. It was a great way to get the children active which is important for physical health and mental wellbeing.

Over the ten days we recorded 1931 active journeys and had an average daily score of 68.49%.

Taking part in this challenge was a great way to encourage our children to become Agents of Change and create healthier places and happier lives for everyone. It helped our children to see the impact completing active journeys can have on the environment, and it contributed to our Eco Schools work to promote greener, cleaner ways of travelling.
