Year 6 gained an understanding of the Blitz through a year group experience in the hall.
It began with loud, wailing sirens and the droning sounds of the Luftwaffe scattering above their heads. Huge explosions shook the ground beneath them. The children experienced a VR Anderson shelter on the screen before flashing lights and more sirens filled the hall. This experience helped the children to gain an understanding of what the blitz would have been like for people in WW2. They discussed what they could see, hear and feel during the experience and they will be using this to support their writing of a setting description over the coming lessons.
