On Tuesday 20th October, the children at Bourne Elsea Park Primary Academy gratefully received an incredible donation of Usborne Books. Over the course of the summer, the school took part in the Usborne Books Community Pledge Programme. Leigh Marlow of Usborne Books contacted a number of local construction companies to see if they would like to donate to their fundraising mission and they were thrilled to discover Kier, Larkfleet and Barratt Homes all contributed. Together with the fund matching from Usborne, over £1,100 was raised.
As such a large amount of money was raised, all Key Stage 2 classes were able to choose a selection of books to enjoy in their book corners. Miss Ockwell, Assistant Head and Year 4 Teacher said “We are all absolutely thrilled to receive this incredibly generous donation of fabulous books. We are so grateful to all those who contributed and we just know these fantastic story and non-fiction books are going to go a long way towards ensuring all the children at Bourne Elsea Park CE Primary Academy continue to develop a life- long love of reading.”
In addition, Miss Davey, Year 5 teacher, said, “It was wonderful to see the children’s eyes light up as they discovered the new additions to our book corner. It was just like Christmas!”
