Being Agents of Change in the Lives of Children in Need

        Author: Lorna Ockwell

To support Children in Need this year, Student Council chose the dress up theme of Superheroes and Pudsey Bear to celebrate the BBC charity’s own theme of ‘Challenge Yourself’.  After a special Collective Week celebrating the charity and Friendship Week, the whole school, inspired by the real life BBC Gladiators, then joined to watch the Gladiators and Pudsey Bear take part a fun, mood boosting session of exciting sporting challenges before returning to their classroom to think about their own Superhero powers. They reflected on their own strengths such as kindness, friendship, sporting, people, word and art SMARTS and how these could help them face their own challenges and help other children in need. During the day, it was ‘spotacular’ to see the children happily dressed up as superheroes or in their yellow Pudsey outfits, even the staff looked cute in their Pudsey ears and t-shirts!  To round off the day, a fabulous bake sale took place after school where, as always, parents and children did the school proud by baking a fantastic array of mouthwatering cakes and cookies which all went to help raise a huge amount of money for this worthy cause.  Our children proved themselves to be real Agents of Change again and had a huge amount of fun while doing it.  Well done and thank you to our whole community for your continued support and enthusiasm for these very special days.
