We had a wonderful celebration of reading and books on World Book Day at Bourne Elsea Park. The magic of reading was definitely in the air! Something strange also happened as all of our school children went missing somewhere and were replaced by superheroes, Stick Men, Gruffalos and hungry caterpillars plus a wealth of other literary characters.
To begin World Book Day, the children gathered together to hear extracts of some of the staff’s all-time favourite books and share in the wonder of story-telling. Throughout the day, the children shared stories with reading buddies across different year groups. Mrs Campbell (Reception Teacher) said, “It’s just absolutely wonderful to see children coming together to share their love of books. It’s been a truly momentous day and I am thrilled to see how genuinely enthusiastic our children are about books and reading.”
The day was topped off by our book bring and buy stall. Thank you for all of the kind donations we received and we hope that the books purchased have found a happy new home where the stories can be loved again.
All in all, it was a World Book Day celebration to be proud of but remember a book is not just for World Book Day! Reading is something that can help us in so many different ways so, as Dory would say, just keep reading, just keep reading.
