Bourne Elsea Park’s Christmas Church Service

        Author: Jill Bates

On Monday 11th December, children from Years 2 to Years 6 from Bourne Elsea Park CE Primary Academy filled the church for their annual Christmas Carol service. Celebrating a significant part of the Christian calendar, the children retold the Christmas Story beautifully through readings, songs, and actions. A highlight was Year 2 signing and singing Away in a Manger. All participated with enthusiasm sharing the true meaning of Christmas. The end of the service saw the children reflecting on the journey of the Wise Men and how they went home even wiser men, realising that precious things are worth far more than money – and are not always found in the richest places. Residents from the Cedars Care Home also attended the service and were thrilled to be part of a Christmas service with the children. Anne, Janet, Barbara, and Janet loved every second ‘it’s been so long since I’ve been to a children’s service, it was wonderful.’ (Anne). It was a special time for the school community to come together and all take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
