It’s Everyone’s Favourite Day – Roald Dahl Day!

        Author: Lorna Ockwell

On Tuesday 13th September, we, the chidlers of Bourne Elsea Park C of E Primary Academy, once again had the most glorious phizzwizard of a day celebrating the extraordinary life and times of Roald Dahl.

We were complete chatbags as we entered the school gates; desperate to find out what the day ahead had in store. And we were not disappointed by the rumpledumpus that awaited us.

Each class and year group completed a unique activity to keep each us all fully entertained. Marvelous medicines were mixed, Revolting Rhymes were read and re-enacted and quizzical quizzes were quizzed. But the most remarkable event was an explosion of Roald’s characters from the Year 4 classroom. The characters ran amuck through the school, reenacting their most famous scenes, playing terrible tricks on each other and generally causing havoc!

To end the day, our teachers took part in a Roald Dahl themed story time where they shared a snippet from their favourite Roald Dahl book. I think it’s fair to say, we were truly inspired by Roald Dahl’s incredible imagination.

Mrs Skidmore, Head of School, said she was thrilled to see how creatively we responded to the activities and challenges we were set. ‘It’s been a wonderful way to start the year and a fantastic chance for the children to live out this term’s Christian Value of Creativity.’

Another Roald Dahl Day successfully celebrated!
