Mini Historians open a Toy Museum

        Author: Lorna Ockwell

Year One children at Bourne Elsea Park Primary Academy have enjoyed developing their historical enquiry skills this term, learning all about toys from the past. As a treat for their families, they decided to transform their classroom into a museum.  On display were photos of toys from the past as well as a number of replica toys. Each toy had a detailed information card, written by the children themselves. One parent commented, “I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to the Year 1 Toy Museum. The children’s work was exceptional and they were all clearly proud of everything they have done. I was particularly impressed to hear the children so confidently using words like ‘chronology’ and ‘manufactured’ while talking about their learning”.
