        Stone Age Superstars

        Author: Lorna Ockwell

The children of Year 3 at Bourne Elsea Park showed a fabulous display of their God Given Talents on Tuesday 2nd May as they performed their class assembly all about the Stone age.  As the lights went down, the children eagerly awaited their chance to share their learning with the audience, based on two of their favourite books, The Stoneage Boy and UG, along with the huge amount of facts they had learned around the World Heritage Site, Skara Brae and the features of the different Stone age eras.  During the assembly, the children acted with volume, expression and enthusiasm, playing the roles of children travelling back in time to the Stone age, villagers from a Stone age village, UG, Ug’s mum, narrators, news reporters and archaeologists.  Throughout the assembly, the performers entertained their audience with lively songs including a rendition of We Will Rock You, Stone age Rocks and Shine, all of which were accompanied with fabulous actions and groovy dance moves, bringing the world of the Stone age era to life and leaving their audience joyful and enlightened with their newfound knowledge. One audience member commented afterwards, “Fabulous performances from all children.  Lovely to see them encouraging each other.  We learnt lots about the Stone Age.  Well done to those who persevered”.  Other comments praised the children’s Wow factor and enthusiasm and the smiles afterwards showed how proud they were of their endeavours.  Well done Year 3, you shone like superstars and showed your fabulous learning and performance skills.  What a joy to see!
