        Year 4 Caythorpe PGL Residential

On Wednesday 8th March 2023, a large group of extremely excited Year 4 children joined with equally enthusiastic children from Colsterworth C of E Primary School at the Caythorpe PGL residential centre for 3 days.

As the intrepid adventurers stepped off the coach, the first flurries of snow began to fall and did not stop for the next few days, however this only added to their eagerness and did not dampen their delight or motivation.  After a busy few minutes of unpacking and getting to know their dormitories and the site, the children met their PGL leaders for the afternoon’s first set of activities.

Over the next few days, they faced amazing, fun challenges including rock wall climbing, giant swings, orienteering, Micro scooting and the ever challenging Jacob’s Ladder.  As the blizzards set in, the children were not deterred from showing incredible determination, team spirit and resilience as they learned new skills, made new friends and achieved new heights, even grabbing the perfect opportunity for some snow play with snow angels and snowball, a newly invented form of football!  Meals were hungrily consumed and even after dinner, they enjoyed a magical campfire in the snow covered woodlands and fun team building games before sleepy heads hit their pillows.

All of the staff were incredibly proud of the way the children behaved throughout the trip and how beautifully they supported each other, showing our Christian values of Friendship and Courage, especially for those who were on their first trip away from home.  Well done children for showing how amazing you are and we hope you are already packing for your next adventure!
