Year 6 Make Mystical Mayan Masks
WOW! What a few weeks we have had learning all about Mayan Masks. Our journey started by learning all about the history behind why and for what the Mayans wore masks. We then discussed and analysed the variety of masks that were worn and we found the battle masks and event masks especially fascinating. We looked at a range of mesmerising patterns and designs and we loved King Pakal’s mask. After that, we designed our own masks specifically focusing on what style of mask we would like to create and what artistic patterns we would like to include. Finally, we went on to create our masks out of clay using a range of the skills we had learned along the way. We hope you like some of the captivating designs we came up with.
